What is Freycinet and what can you experience there?

Freycinet National Park is located on Tasmania's isolated East Coast, around 190 km northeast of its capital city, Hobart. The Park was named after French navigator Louis de Freycinet and occupies the majority of  Freycinet Peninsula. Schouten Island was named after fellow French explorer Joost Schouten and it constitutes the Park's Southern-most tip.

Officially declared in 1916, Freycinet NP is also Tasmania's oldest park.

Most visitors to the region transit through the sleepy township of Coles Bay to get to: Freycinet National Park, it's many beaches, bays and bush-walks; and, of course, to world-class Wineglass Bay beyond. Traveller.com.au recently concluded that Wineglass Bay was blessed with...

"…one of the top 10 best, most beautiful beaches in Tasmania”
